SBC Spooky System Showdown: Official Rules

NO PURCHASE OR PAYMENT OF ANY KIND IS NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN. A PURCHASE WILL NOT INCREASE YOUR CHANCES OF WINNING.

1. Sponsor

SBC Cooling + Heating, 3610 Sligo Rd., Haughton, LA 71037. Telephone (318) 465-0853. SBCair.com. Louisiana Contractor License #55256 (“Sponsor”).

2. Eligibility

The SBC Spooky System Showdown (“Giveaway”) is open only to legal residents of the State of Louisiana who:

• Are eighteen (18) years of age or older at the time of entry
• Own and reside in a single-family residence located within Sponsor’s published service area, which includes Shreveport, Bossier City, Benton, Blanchard, Haughton, Keithville, Minden, Olde Oaks, Princeton, Red Chute, Stonewall and surrounding communities in Caddo Parish and Bossier Parish served by Sponsor
• Have a functioning central heating and cooling system installed at that residence
• Are able to grant Sponsor access to the residence for the verification visit described in Section 5

Renters, tenants and non-owner occupants are not eligible. Rental properties, multi-family dwellings, mobile and manufactured homes not permanently affixed, and commercial properties are not eligible.

Employees, officers and directors of Sponsor, and their immediate family members (spouse, parent, child, sibling and their respective spouses) and members of their households, are not eligible. Employees of Sponsor’s advertising, promotional and marketing agencies and their immediate family members and households are not eligible.

Void where prohibited or restricted by law.

3. Giveaway Period

The Giveaway begins on October 1, 2026 at 12:00:01 AM Central Daylight Time and ends on October 25, 2026 at 11:59:59 PM Central Daylight Time (“Giveaway Period”).

Entries submitted before or after the Giveaway Period will not be accepted. Sponsor’s computer is the official timekeeping device for this Giveaway.

4. How to Enter

There are three ways to enter. All three are free. No purchase, payment or service of any kind is required to enter or to win by any method.

Method 1, online. Visit SBCair.com during the Giveaway Period and complete the online entry form in full. This method is open to any eligible homeowner at any time during the Giveaway Period, whether or not they are a Sponsor customer and whether or not they have ever purchased anything from Sponsor.

Method 2, by telephone. Call (318) 465-0853 during Sponsor’s normal business hours and provide the required information to a Sponsor representative, who will submit the entry on the caller’s behalf. This method carries no cost and requires no purchase.

Method 3, technician-submitted entry. During the Giveaway Period, a Sponsor technician visiting a residence may offer to submit an entry on the homeowner’s behalf. The homeowner must give permission, and the technician records the same information the online form requires. A technician-submitted entry carries no cost and does not require the homeowner to purchase, authorize or accept any service.

All three methods require the same information: the entrant’s full name, service address, city, ZIP code, telephone number, email address, approximate age of the existing heating and cooling system, and confirmation of homeownership.

Entrants may optionally include a photograph of their existing system, whether uploaded online or taken by a technician with the homeowner’s permission.

Limit one (1) entry per household and per physical service address for the duration of the Giveaway Period, across all entry methods combined. Entering by one method does not prevent another from being offered, but only one entry per address will be counted.

If more than one entry is received for the same household or service address, Sponsor will retain the earliest valid entry and disregard the others. Duplicate entries arising from a homeowner entering online, by telephone, or through a technician will not result in disqualification. Sponsor reserves the right to disqualify entries where duplication appears deliberate or intended to manipulate the Giveaway.

Entries that are incomplete, illegible or falsified are void. Automated, robotic, scripted, or bulk entries are void. Entries submitted by any means other than the three methods described in this Section are void.

All entries become the property of Sponsor and will not be returned or acknowledged.

5. Verification Visit and Complimentary Inspection

NO COST, NO OBLIGATION

The verification visit, and the inspection performed during it, are free. No purchase, payment or obligation of any kind is required at any time. Nothing purchased, declined or discussed during the visit affects an entrant’s eligibility or ranking.

Following entry, Sponsor will contact the entrant to schedule an in-home visit during Sponsor’s normal business hours. The visit typically takes about one hour and has two parts.

Age verification. A Sponsor technician determines the manufacture date of the existing heating and cooling equipment using the manufacturer serial number, data plate, or other manufacturer documentation, and photographs that information for Sponsor’s records. Where the indoor and outdoor components bear different manufacture dates, the earlier of the two dates is used.

Complimentary system inspection. During the same visit, the technician performs one (1) complimentary system inspection of a single heating and cooling system at the address identified in the entry.

Quantity: one (1) per eligible entrant who completes a verification visit. Estimated Retail Value: $129.00 each.

The complimentary inspection consists of a visual inspection of the system and electrical testing, including voltage and amperage readings. It does not include coil cleaning, condenser cleaning, repairs, parts, refrigerant, or any other service. The technician will explain any condition observed. Any recommended work will be quoted separately and only at the entrant’s request.

The complimentary inspection is provided at the verification visit only. It cannot be redeemed at a later date or at a different address, is non-transferable, has no cash value, and cannot be combined with any other offer, discount or promotion. It is provided to every eligible entrant who completes a verification visit, regardless of the age of the equipment, including the grand prize winner.

Where Sponsor’s own installation or permit records establish when equipment was installed at the address, Sponsor may use those records to inform scheduling. Those records do not affect an eligible entrant’s right to the complimentary inspection.

An entry cannot be ranked without a completed verification visit. Entrants who decline the visit, who cannot be reached to schedule after three (3) documented attempts, or whose visit cannot be completed on or before October 28, 2026, will not be eligible for prize consideration and will not receive the complimentary inspection.

Sponsor’s determination of system age is final.

6. Winner Selection

The winner will be the eligible entrant whose verified heating and cooling system has the earliest verified manufacture date among all eligible entries received during the Giveaway Period.

Tiebreaker. If two or more eligible entries share the same verified manufacture date, the winner will be the entrant whose entry was received earliest as recorded by Sponsor’s entry system. If a tie remains, Sponsor will select the winner by random drawing from among the tied entries.

Estimated odds. Because the grand prize winner is determined by verified equipment age rather than by random chance, odds of winning the grand prize cannot be calculated in advance. They depend entirely on the age of an entrant’s system relative to all other eligible entries received during the Giveaway Period. Odds of receiving the complimentary inspection described in Section 5 are one (1) in one (1) for every eligible entrant who completes a verification visit.

Purchases do not affect odds. Purchasing any product or service from Sponsor, including a replacement system under Section 8, does not improve an entrant’s ranking or odds of winning. Every entry is ranked solely on the verified manufacture date of the equipment that was in place when the entry was verified.

7. Grand Prize

One (1) grand prize will be awarded consisting of one (1) new residential heating and cooling system, including standard professional installation by Sponsor, as specified and selected solely by Sponsor.

Quantity: one (1). Estimated Retail Value (“ERV”): $13,000.00.

Sponsor will determine the make, model, size and configuration of the system based on the requirements of the winner’s residence. The winner may not select or substitute a different make, model or capacity. Actual value may vary depending on the equipment required for the residence, and any difference between the actual value and the stated ERV will not be awarded.

The grand prize is awarded in a single installation. There is no schedule of payments made over time.

The grand prize does not include permits beyond those customarily required, electrical, gas, structural, ductwork, or code-compliance modifications that may be necessary, removal or remediation of hazardous materials, or any work outside the scope of a standard equipment replacement. If the winner’s residence requires such work, the winner is responsible for those costs. Sponsor will disclose any such costs in writing before installation begins, and the winner may decline, in which case the grand prize is forfeited.

The grand prize is non-transferable. No cash equivalent or substitution is permitted, except as provided in Section 8, and except that Sponsor reserves the right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value if the advertised prize becomes unavailable.

Installation must be completed at the residence identified in the winning entry, and must be scheduled and completed on or before December 31, 2026 unless otherwise agreed by Sponsor in writing. Failure of the winner to make the residence available for installation on or before that date will result in forfeiture of the grand prize.

All federal, state and local taxes are the sole responsibility of the winner. Because the value of the grand prize exceeds $600, the winner will be required to complete and return an IRS Form W-9, and Sponsor will issue an IRS Form 1099-MISC reporting the value of the prize awarded as income for the applicable tax year. Depending on the winner’s tax bracket, this may result in a tax liability of several thousand dollars. Entrants are encouraged to consult a tax advisor.

8. Entrants Who Purchase a Replacement System During the Giveaway

No purchase is necessary to enter or win, and a purchase will not improve an entrant’s odds. An entrant who independently chooses to purchase a replacement heating and cooling system from Sponsor before the winner is determined remains eligible to win, subject to all of the following conditions:

• The entry was submitted under Section 4 before the purchase agreement was signed
• The manufacture date of the existing system was verified and photographed by Sponsor under Section 5 before that system was removed. An entry whose original equipment is removed before verification cannot be ranked
• The purchase agreement was signed on or before October 28, 2026, and covers the residence identified in the entry
• The entry is ranked on the verified age of the system that was replaced, not the new system

Refund in place of the grand prize. If an entrant who meets these conditions is confirmed as the grand prize winner, that entrant will receive, instead of the grand prize described in Section 7, a refund of the purchase price of the replacement heating and cooling unit and its standard installation, as stated on the signed purchase agreement, up to a maximum of $13,000.00, the ERV of the grand prize. The winner will not receive a second system.

The refund does not cover financing costs. The refund does not include, and Sponsor will not pay or reimburse, any interest, finance charges, loan fees, or other amounts owed under any financing agreement, whether the financing was arranged through Sponsor or a third party. An entrant who financed a purchase remains solely responsible for every obligation under that financing agreement, including repayment in full.

Other exclusions. The refund also does not include additional equipment, accessories, indoor air quality products, extended warranties, maintenance plans, permits, or any work outside the scope of a standard equipment replacement, whether or not listed on the same purchase agreement.

Timing and method. The refund will be issued by check to the winner within thirty (30) days after the later of (a) the winner satisfying all requirements of Section 9, and (b) Sponsor receiving payment in full of the purchase price, whether directly from the winner or from a financing provider. The refunded amount is reported as prize income under Section 7, and the same tax terms apply.

If the purchase agreement is cancelled or rescinded, this Section no longer applies and the grand prize terms of Section 7 govern, provided the original verified entry remains eligible.

9. Winner Notification and Announcement

The potential winner will be notified by telephone and email at the contact information provided at entry, on or about October 29, 2026.

The potential winner must respond within five (5) business days of first notification attempt. Failure to respond within that period, return of notification as undeliverable, or inability to reach the potential winner will result in forfeiture, and Sponsor may select the entrant with the next-earliest verified manufacture date.

The potential winner may be required to execute and return an Affidavit of Eligibility, a Liability Release, and, where lawful, a Publicity Release within seven (7) days of receipt. Failure to return required documents within that period will result in forfeiture.

Sponsor intends to announce the winner publicly on or about October 30, 2026. Any announcement made before the potential winner has satisfied every requirement of this Section identifies that person as the potential winner, subject to verification of eligibility. If the potential winner is disqualified or forfeits, Sponsor will select the entrant with the next-earliest verified manufacture date and may announce that alternate winner.

10. Publicity

Except where prohibited by law, acceptance of a prize constitutes the recipient’s consent for Sponsor and its agencies to use the recipient’s name, city and state of residence, photograph, video, likeness, voice, and statements about the Giveaway for advertising, promotional and publicity purposes in any and all media, worldwide, in perpetuity, without additional compensation, notice or approval.

Entrants who upload a photograph, or who permit a Sponsor technician to take a photograph in connection with their entry, grant Sponsor a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use that photograph for advertising and promotional purposes. Permission for a technician-taken photograph is given at the time of entry and may be withdrawn by contacting Sponsor at (318) 465-0853.

11. Privacy and Communications

Information collected from entrants is subject to Sponsor’s Privacy Policy, available at SBCair.com/privacy-policy.

By entering, entrants consent to receive communications from Sponsor, including telephone calls, emails and text messages, regarding this Giveaway and Sponsor’s products and services. Message and data rates may apply. Entrants may opt out of text messages at any time by replying STOP, and may opt out of marketing emails using the unsubscribe link in any such email. Opting out of marketing communications will not affect eligibility.

12. General Conditions

By entering, each entrant agrees to be bound by these Official Rules and by the decisions of Sponsor, which are final and binding in all matters relating to this Giveaway.

Accuracy of information. By entering, each entrant represents and warrants that all information submitted is true, accurate and complete, and that they are the lawful owner and occupant of the residence identified in the entry. Sponsor reserves the right to verify eligibility and to request documentation of ownership and residency at any time. Submission of false or misleading information will result in disqualification.

Insufficient entries. If fewer than ten (10) eligible entries are received during the Giveaway Period, Sponsor reserves the right to cancel the Giveaway, award no grand prize, or extend the Giveaway Period, in its sole discretion. Any complimentary inspection already provided under Section 5 will not be affected.

Severability. If any provision of these Official Rules is held invalid or unenforceable, that provision shall be severed and the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.

Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to disqualify any individual it finds to be tampering with the entry process or the operation of the Giveaway, acting in violation of these Official Rules, or acting in a disruptive manner or with intent to annoy, abuse, threaten or harass any other person.

Sponsor is not responsible for entries that are lost, late, misdirected, garbled, incomplete, or not received for any reason, nor for any technical malfunction, human error, or failure of any network, hardware, software or telecommunications provider.

If for any reason the Giveaway is not capable of running as planned, including by reason of infection by computer virus, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failure, or any cause beyond Sponsor’s reasonable control, Sponsor reserves the right in its sole discretion to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Giveaway, and to select the winner from among all eligible entries received prior to the action requiring such cancellation, termination, modification or suspension.

13. Limitation of Liability

By entering, each entrant releases and holds harmless Sponsor, its parent, subsidiaries, affiliates, advertising and promotional agencies, and each of their respective officers, directors, employees and agents from and against any claim, injury, loss or damage of any kind arising from or in connection with participation in this Giveaway, the verification visit, the complimentary inspection, any refund under Section 8, or the acceptance, receipt, possession, use or misuse of any prize.

Entrants further agree that in no event shall Sponsor be liable for attorneys’ fees, and entrants waive all rights to claim punitive, incidental, consequential or any other damages other than actual out-of-pocket expenses.

14. Disputes and Governing Law

All issues and questions concerning the construction, validity, interpretation and enforceability of these Official Rules, or the rights and obligations of entrants and Sponsor, shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Louisiana, without giving effect to any choice of law or conflict of law provisions.

Any dispute arising out of or relating to this Giveaway shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action, in a state or federal court located in Bossier Parish, Louisiana.

15. Winner’s List

For the name of the winner, send a written request to SBC Cooling + Heating, Attn: Spooky System Showdown Winner’s List, 3610 Sligo Rd., Haughton, LA 71037, to be received no later than December 31, 2026.
